Research Visit to Ethiopia August 2023

Prof. Bryan Ranger, Marisa Albert (DNP Student, School of Nursing), Jini Kim (DNP Student, School of Nursing), and Hayoung Cho (HCE '25) travelled to visit research partners in Jimma, Ethiopia. They are working on a collaborative project with Professor Jinhee Park (BC School of Nursing), Professor Donglai Wei (BC Dept. of Computer Science), and Professor Melkamu Berhane (Jimma University) to develop novel ways of using portable ultrasound imaging to assess growth and nutrition in newborns. As part of the trip, the team met with the local researchers to demonstrate data collection procedures to launch a pilot study, and shadowed clinicians at the medical center.
